I Gats A Question Fer Yee!

Question of the Week:

What is the Gospel?

5 comments:

  1. Where to begin? It contains such inexhaustible richness of good news for us, God's people. I know it has proved to contain the answer to all the issues that trouble my soul. It answers satisfactorily, not being a mere relief to my troubled soul as all earthly remedies can only be.

It's answer IS the answer, the lasting relief, the source of everlasting joy. It's joys lead always to life and not death, always freeing me with truth rather than casting me down with deception.

The world is full of "gospels." "Solutions" to our longings, "good news" that is supposed to bring relief and leave us happy. But they are all False.

Christian, you have the true Gospel! It is a promise that delivers. God is all sufficient to satisfy your longings. Fiddle not with the other "gospels" of the world for they lead not to life, but death. If then God says you have a sure hope, why look elsewhere for it?

"Why are you looking for love? why are you still searching as if I'm not enough? to where will you go, child? To where will you run? Look at My hands, and My side. I swallowed the grave on that night, drank the worlds sin so I could carry you in and give you live." -Tenth Ave North

    Jesus Christ is the Gospel.

  2. Just to clarify, my last post did not really answer the question, "what is the Gospel." It was more of a reflection on what it's benefits have meant to me, which turned into an exhortation to you not to search for hope outside of the gospel or satisfaction outside of God.

In my Next post, I'll hopefully stick to answering the question:)

  4. The Gospel is the Good News, the writing in the Bible of the life of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. You have the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John but really you see this throughout the whole New Testament. It is the life, death and ressurection of Jesus Christ. It was His way for humans who have ALL fallen short, to be restored into a forgiven relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus took our sins upon Himself to rescue us who are lost in our sins. He wants us to have faith in Him, and repent of our sins, and He sends his Holy Spirit to change us inwardly so that we hear his call. And we are made to realize that we are living a new life in Christ. The verse I think of is Revelation 3:20, "Here I am! stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me."

  5. Salvation is the sweet aroma of the gospel. Therefore it is most important that we describe the saving details when answering this question. Such as - Our disqualifying bondage to sin and God's demand for righteousness, Christ's perfect righteousness and His death on behalf of sin. God's demand of rigteousness being fulfilled in Christ on our behalf, so that now we may be with im in heaven for all eterinty - salvation.
