I Gats A Question Fer Yee!

Question of the week:

What is the difference between God's grace and God's mercy?

1 comment:

  1. Mercy - not giving us what we deserve.

    - damnation
    - To be put out of His
    presence forever.
    - To be judged for our
    Self-Idolatry, which began
    with Adam's rejection of
    God's Lordship over his
life so that he could be his
own, the sin we all commit
which makes us the enemies of
    God.

Grace - Giving us what we don't desearve
    - forgiveness while we were
    still His enemies.
    - Adoption as sons and
    daughters in the family of
    the almighty God
    - Himself. As a Husband
    gives himself to his bride,
    so God has married the
    church, to love and cherish
her until death do us part
    (which sense He is eternal
    and we've been given
    eternal life, it's the only
    forever marriage, the real
    one).
    - An inheritance with Ghrist
    - All the riches of the
    heavenly places
    - A position of being
    glorified with Him.

Another difference to note is that mercy is more universal. God is merciful to more than just Christians. The inhabitance of earth are now experiencing God's mercy, were He to fully remove His presence earth would be Hell already. Grace is something God only shows to His people, His bride.
